Application Process and Procedures

To apply for the Certified Listening Professional Certification Program (a year long program delivered online), please follow the procedure below. 

First you must fill out an application form and pay the application fee. When you have completed the application, paid the $25.00 fee, and have been accepted into the program, you will receive instructions to register for the program.

Email your application form, questions, special issues, or concerns about the program to: Donna Renaud  Applications are taken throughout the year; however, training cohorts start just after the annual convention that is typically held the end of March. Potential CLP candidates are encouraged to attend the annual convention to meet previous participants and the Training Facilitator.

    To apply for the Certified Listening Professional Certification Program (a year long program delivered online), please fill out the traditional track application form and email it to Donna Renaud.  Please pay the $25 application fee here.

    After you complete the application and are accepted into the program, you will be notified and asked to pay the CLP fee ($200 members; $350 non-members).  You will receive information about materials needed for training by the program directors.

    33rd Annual ILA Convention
    March 22-24, 2012
    We ARE Listening:  Advocate, Research, Educate

    The convention format is slightly changed from the last few years. We will host any extra, pre-convention sessions, site seeing and social gatherings on Wednesday and Thursday. Break out sessions and committee meetings will be scheduled for Friday and Saturday only.  This is a 2 day convention; we do not have a "free afternoon" on Friday scheduled into the program.  


    A kick off reception will be held Thursday evening. The convention framework is available at this link: Convention Framework  A full schedule will be available in March.


    As you make your plans, please remember when you arrive at Sea-Tac airport, you will need to make arrangements for travel to Bremerton.  Details available at this link:  Bremerton Transportation 


    Early Birds

    We are happy to offer early bird convention registration rates if you register and pay for the convention before 11:59 PM (central time) Tuesday, March. 2. Beginning March 3, there will be a $50 late fee.  (This coincides with hotel availability--after March 2, the hotel will only provide space as available and room rates may increase.)

    PLEASE DO NOT ORDER EXTRA MEALS unless you are bringing a guest.  MEALS are included with most registrations.  Full convention prices include lunches, breaks, and Saturday banquet--only "guests" must pay separately for meals. A continental breakfast is available at the hotel and is included in your hotel fees.

    On Thursday, March 22nd, the International Listening Association and the Resolution Dispute Center of King County (Seattle) will present a special panel discussion and workshop titled:Making Peace Through Listening: A Panel and Workshop with a Focus on Conflict Resolution. The program will cost $75 and will include refreshments and the payment will be made when you complete your regular convention registration. Click here for additional information.
