Tour #1: City Tour, Capital, Capital Mall and Mission Mill Museum

Tour the city of Salem, see Willamette University, historic homes, building and the Willamette River. See the Golden Pioneer atop the State Capital rotunda and take the guided tour of the capital (you might even be able to walk the 121 steps to the Golden Pioneer for a spectacular view of the city). Get a feel of nature in the city, walk through the redwood, cedar and Douglas fir trees on the Capital lawns and view statues of important figures in Oregon history. The Capital Mall cherry trees should be in blossom and beautiful! On to Mission Mill Museum set on a 4 acre site with Salem’s first house, the Jason Lee house, dating back to 1840. This and other structures were all part of a Methodist mission. Other historic buildings include the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill which dates back to 1889 where fleece was turned into wool fabric. Visit the Museum’s Visitor Center and various unique shops.

Tour #2: Evergreen Aviation Museum

Come enjoy the Evergreen Aviation Museum which honors our veterans with a unique collection of over forty-five historic aircraft. Home to Howard Hughes’ ‘Spruce Goose’ which you can enter its cargo deck. See a 1903 Wright Flyer replica, a P-38 Lightning, a P-51 Mustang and the SR-71 Blackbird just to name a few. Be moved by the numerous aviation photographs, artifacts and exhibits.

Visit three of the valley’s finest wineries! Redhawk Vineyards is known for their great Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay grapes. Then visit Willamette Valley Vineyards, Oregon’s landmark winery. Taste great wine, see unique architecture and state-of-the-art winemaking plus get a view that goes on forever. Finally visit Oregon’s oldest winery, Honeywood, for varietals and fruity wines.

Tour #4A: Oregon Coast, Coast Aquarium and Historic Newport $50.00 per person

Start your journey through Kings Valley, taking in beautiful pastoral farm lands. Continue to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, named one of the top 10 aquariums in the nation with more than 190 marine species in over six acres of natural marine habitat, cliffs, caves, nature trails and a wave pool. Discover seals, sea lions, plus tufted puffins and many other seabirds in one of the largest walkthrough aviaries in North America. Also walk through an underwater acrylic tunnel with sharks and other fish swimming above you. Afterward, free time for lunch on your own and shopping at Newport’s Historic Bay Front with over 60 shops, galleries, restaurants, murals and a pier with sea lions.

Start your journey as described above plus search for sea life, scenery and speed on the Oregon Rocket during a one hour excursion. At 27 feet, it is the largest Coast Guard style inflatable boat on the Oregon Coast. It has a rigid hull, seats 16 and guaranteed stability with a thrill for all ages. From the moment you put on your Coast Guard style ‘Rocket Suit’ and climb aboard, glide through the waters of Yaquina Bay and spin out on the waves, you’ll enjoy an experience to be remembered and not to be missed. You still have free time for lunch on your own and shopping at Newport’s Historic Bay Front.

Come aboard the Discovery, a deluxe 65 foot, 49 passenger boat with upper and lower viewing decks and large wheel house where all are welcomed. On this 2 hour excursion explore the 4,000 acre Yaquina Bay and River and the near shore Pacific Ocean. Look for gray whales, seals, sea lions, porpoise and sea birds while enjoying the beauty of the rugged Oregon coastline. Friendly naturalist guides will entertain you with stories about this historic coastal community from sea captains haunting lighthouses to modern day fishermen with satellite driven navigation systems. The cruise route is determined daily by Mother Nature – the captain will ensure your comfort and safety. A hearty box lunch is also included on board. Tour #5: Silver Falls State Park/Mt. Angel

Enjoy nature at its finest. Silver Falls State Park is one of Oregon’s largest and most spectacular state parks. You will be able to see two of the ten waterfalls here, ranging from 30 to 178 feet. You can take an easy one-mile loop hike to South Falls. You can still view it from the top, but to see it cascading off the basalt overhang of the canyon wall and actually go behind the falls and feel its mist is special. You will also be able to see the park’s forest filled with old-growth Douglas fir and lush ferns. We will have brunch here and then continue on to Mt Angel and visit the serene Benedictine Abbey which sits on a 300 foot hill overlooking the Willamette Valley below and a spectacular view of the Cascade Mountains.
