International Journal of Listening (Special Issue)

Call for Submissions

Special Issue on COMMUNICATION, ETHICS & LISTENING
Submission Deadline: June 1, 2007.

The Communication Ethics Division of the National CommunicationAssociation is hosting a special issue of the International Journal ofListening on the theme of Communication, Ethics, and Listening.Submissions from all areas of communication studies are welcome.

This special issue invites scholars from across the field to take up the intersections of two crucial aspects of communication: ethics and listening. Papers may entertain questions pertaining to ethics and listening from any theoretical and methodological perspectives including but not limited to critical/cultural, intercultural, interpersonal, media/mass communication, organizational, philosophical, political, rhetorical, and sociolinguistic. We welcome essays taking a wide variety of approaches. These may include theoretical explorations of the relationships between ethics and listening, qualitative studies that examine the function of listening in communication ethics, quantitative studies that demonstrate interactions between ethics and listening, rhetorical analyses pertinent to the topic area, as just a few possible examples.

Submissions must not have been previously published nor be under consideration by another publication. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with APA style and length should not exceed 9,000 words (including bibliography). Nonsexist language should be used. Author identification should appear on the title page only and a 100 word abstract should be included with the essay.

Submissions should be sent as e-mail attachments to the guest editors, Pat Gehrke and Lisbeth Lipari, at IJLEthicsIssue@gmail.com . Please attach the cover page as a separate file and be careful to ensure that the file containing the essay and abstract is free from any identification of the author(s).Submissions may be sent in any of the following formats: Open Document, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or StarWriter. Confirmation of receipt and editorial communications will be sent by return e-mail. All essays must be received by June 1, 2007 in order to receive full consideration. Questions may also be sent to the address.
