Listening
in a Lean Environment
Call for 2006
Business Workshop Proposal
Submission Form
The 2006
Business Mini-Conference: "Listening in a Lean Environment,"
will be held in Salem, Oregon, on Wednesday, April 19, the
day before
the ILA Conference begins. Creating, implementing, and maintaining
a "lean" environment for any business requires significant
listening
skills at all levels, from top management to temporary workers.
Indeed, interfacing the lean manufacturing process with quality
listening training throughout an organization would speed
its success.
Therefore, "Listening in a Lean Environment" is
a perfect theme for
this year's mini-conference, which will focus on how effective
listening contributes to and facilitates a strong "lean"
organization.
Concerning
workshop presenters, we are looking for people who have
expertise with integrating listening issues into the lean
process.
Those who have listening knowledge might consider collaborating
with
individuals who have lean expertise. For those of you who
are not as
familiar with lean manufacturing, this concept, also known
as the
Toyota Production System, "is about doing more with less:
less time,
inventory, space, labor, and money . .. . a shorthand for
a commitment
to eliminating waste, simplifying procedures and speeding
up
production."
If
you or someone you know is interested in presenting at the
mini-conference, please complete the attached Call for Workshops.
We
ask that all proposals be submitted by Wednesday, November
9, 2005, so
that the Business Mini-Conference program can be finalized
in a timely
manner.
