Rockhurst
University and the International Listening Association are
proud co-sponsors of this listening forum designed to set
the listening research agenda for the next 5 years within
the contexts of Business, Education, Healthcare, and Religion/Spirituality.
Participants will actively identify the challenges of measuring
listening and design pilot studies to overcome the challenges.
Pilot studies will be conducted by conference participants.
The current editor of the International Journal of Listening
has agreed to focus a special edition of the journal that
will include conference outcomes and the pilot studies. Further
publication opportunities will be available to conference
participants as well.
| Goals:
|
1)
To develop practical instruments to measure the effects
of listening in
contexts and across contexts 2)
To develop the listening research agenda for the next
5 years in the contexts of Business, Education, Healthcare,
Religion/Spirituality, and
Theory/Research.
|
| Who:
|
Those
who believe that listening is important in their personal
or professional lives. We are seeking a variety of people,
and there are not prerequisites to have a background in
listening or in research.
|
| How: |
Based on a
Progress Review Group model made popular by the National
Cancer Institute, these series of facilitated small group
discussions will help context areas identify the gaps
in listening, create instruments to address those gaps,
and develop studies to test the instruments. Everyone
will play a role, but no one is expected to play all roles.
