Listening is a crucial learning skill, yet one generally not found in the curriculum. Highly qualified presenters will deliver interactive workshops designed to provide stimulating ideas and strategies for engaging students in the listening process.

Workshop presenters will:

Introduce basic listening concepts.
Demonstrate that listening is an art that melds the teacher with the subject matter and the students.
Help teachers identify listening disabilities and how they affect learning and social interaction in the classroom.
Model and explain simple, concrete student activities that teachers can easily incorporate into their existing curriculum.
Help teachers identify bad listening habits, locate barriers to listening in the classroom and provide methods to remediate them.
Presenting at the workshop will be: Dr. Mike Purdy, Professor Emeritus of Communication Studies at Governors State University; Dr. Orick-Martinez is the immediate past-president of the International Listening Association and teaches at CNM and conducts customized communication skills training around the country; and Mr. Alan Ehrlich who speaks and conducts workshops on communications skills for people with hearing and listening disabilities.
